Our Stud Name

The Ribble Cavies stud name was registered in June 2005. It is always interesting to hear how people decide on their stud names so here's how we found ours...

In June 2004 we attended a show in Blackpool unaware that there would be three adorable Rex babies there in the sale pens. I had been interested in starting to breed Rex as soon as I saw this breed for the first time and fell in love.

I decided that one of those Rex babies had to be mine and asked the owner if we could have a look. She got them out and I choose the one I instantly adored, who is now known as Ribble. And as he was my first ever Rex cavy it was only right to dedicate our stud name to him. After all, once I owned him and saw what a gentle and kind nature he had I knew there was definitely no other breed for me!

So how did we get the name Ribble?

On the way home from the show where we bought him we drove over the River Ribble and the name caught my attention and seemed to suit him perfectly!

And that's how the name 'The Ribble Cavies Stud' was born.
